At BB we keep the blood specimens for 7 days. Days are defined as days of the week, not 24 hours from a specimen’s collection. What number should they call?</strong></h4><h4 style="padding-left: 40px;">A: The number to call for any billing question is 225-819-1000. Send-out testing will all be sent at the same time. Microbiology tests come over independently and when they are updated. </h4><h4><strong>Q: Where do I send a patient if I am unable to collect the specimens?</strong></h4><h4 style="padding-left: 40px;">A: We can draw a patient at our Mid-City Hospital location in the Main Laboratory anytime. The address is 3600 Florida Blvd. We also provide this service at our BB campus in the Outpatient Laboratory next to Admissions Monday-Friday. Please have the patient bring the printed order and transmit the order electronically to the laboratory.</h4><h4><strong>Q: How do I do an add-on test?</strong></h4><h4 style="padding-left: 40px;">A: Please fill out an authorization form completely and email it to <a href="mailto:RefLabAddon@brgeneral.org">RefLabAddon@brgeneral.org</a>.</h4><h4><strong>Q: What Urinalysis test do I order?</strong></h4><h4 style="padding-left: 40px;">A: Urinalysis, Macroscopic: Macroscopic urinalysis that will reflex a microscopic when criteria is met. A microscopic exam must be performed on all urine specimens that have any of the following properties:</h4><h4 style="padding-left: 40px;"> ●Abnormal urine color ●Nitrite positive ●Protein positive ● Specific gravity greater than 1.030 ● Occult blood positive ●Glucose concentration 3+ or greater ●Leukocytes positive</h4><h4>Urinalysis, macroscopic with Reflex to Culture: Macroscopic urinalysis that will reflex a microscopic when criteria is met. See criteria above. After the microscopic is performed a non-catheterized Urine culture will reflex if any one of following criteria is positive <u>without evidence of contamination (many epithelial cells)</u>:</h4><h4 style="padding-left: 40px;"> ●> 5 WBC/HPF ●Moderate bacteria ●Yeast cell observed</h4>
